The much anticipated award is in on curtail and pivot. The case presented was a representative case for 150 other
grievances.
Arbitrator Lalka stated in his summary "The Postal Service ordered carriers to curtail third class mail on their duty
assignments, and pivot onto vacant routes. The vacancies were not unanticipated. The grievance is sustained.
The Postal Service shall cease and desist the practice, and all affected carriers shall receive one hour of pay at the overtime
rate for each day they were forced off their duty assignments".
This award is vindication for Branch 100 as our previous award was described as a fluke, a rouge arbitrator, and a sure
loser the next time.
This award established a carrier's right to service their bid assignment on a daily basis.
